Welcome to the Women's Well Website

We imagine that, if you are here, you may have felt some longing for a woman-honoring space, a place to rest, to feel seen and recognized, to listen, to learn. We also imagine that you, like many of us, may have had a long and challenging journey through a male-dominated world where women's experience and wisdom have been neither valued nor acknowledged. We know that when this happens it can lead to feelings of disorientation, isolation, and doubt of one's inherent worth.

The Women's Well was an organization whose primary focus was the healing and empowerment of women and girls, and the reclaiming of the sacred feminine. It offered programs in the Boston area from 1994 to 2012, focusing on questions central to women's spirituality, such as: What do women experience as sacred? How do they know it and honor it? How do they bring it forth?

Essential to the work of the Women’s Well was the principle of the circle, a non-hierarchical form where all points on the circumference are equally valued. The circle provided sacred space for women to connect deeply with themselves and with each other using story, ritual, and the creative arts as central means of exploration.

Although the Women's Well officially closed its physical doors in 2012, we have created this website as a resource for you, and because we believe the principles on which our work was based, the subjects we explored, and the learning and healing experienced by those who participated, are all deeply relevant to the challenges of the times we are living in now.

We also tell the story of the Women's Well with the hope that, if you are currently without a women's circle or a women's group where you can safely speak your truth and be truly heard, and where you can listen to other women from the deepest place in your being, perhaps you will be inspired to find such a circle, or to create one. If you already have a circle but it is lagging, losing energy, or experiencing difficulties, we hope you will draw encouragement and inspiration from what we share here.

The Women's Well was a woman-honoring place where deep healing happened. It changed our lives forever.

Below is the mission statement that guided our work and that is still a powerful influence in the lives of many of us.

Mission Statement
The spiritual power and wisdom of women are greatly needed in our world today. The Women's Well offers opportunities for women to come together to reclaim, honor, and celebrate what is sacred to them, and to explore how their wisdom can influence the way we all live, work, and care for each other, for our communities, and for the Earth.

The Women's Well is a safe and supportive community that encourages women to honor the power of the circle and to trust themselves and their ways of knowing, including the wisdom of the female body, their experience of cycles, and a receptivity to intuition and the unconscious. Our purpose is to encourage, strengthen, inspire, and empower women.
